Targets and Progress

Our business has always been based on sustainable practices. Especially during the last five years we have taken determined steps in our corporate responsibility work. In 2010, for example, Konecranes became the United Nations Global Compact signatory, and in 2013 the first fair labor evaluations were conducted by a third party. Also, in 2014, we reached a decline of 46% in accident frequency during the past 5 years.

During the last three years, the development of our operational energy efficiency has been rapid, resulting in significant environmental and monetary gains. By the end of 2016, we had already reached our 2020 energy intensity target (-10% MWh/sales), four years ahead of schedule. In addition, we have almost reached our 2020 greenhouse gas intensity target (-20% tCO2e/sales), with emission intensity decreased by 18% during 2013-2016. As we aim to improve our operations continuously, we are now in the process of defining new targets for the combined business. Please read more about our progress from our Annual report.

In 2015, we set the long-term targets we aim to achieve in each of our four focus areas by the year 2020, and have been monitoring our progress since then. In the table below, we summarize our main goals for each focus area and show how this links to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
